When you unbox your Ledger, make sure the packaging is sealed and untampered. Official devices come with a clear holographic seal. Don’t accept setup help from strangers, websites, or social media. The genuine site for all downloads remains ledger.com/start.
Connect your device via USB and power it on. Choose “Set up as new device.” Create a unique 4–8 digit PIN. Your PIN protects the device from unauthorized access. Do not choose simple sequences like 1234 or repeating numbers. Record your PIN securely but separate from your recovery sheet.
Ledger generates 24 random words. Write them clearly on the recovery sheets provided in the box. Store them in a private, offline location — ideally in two different safe spots. You can even engrave them on a fireproof metal plate for long-term safety.
